Freddie Mac is a publicly held corporation chartered by Congress to increase the supply of funds that mortgage lenders, such as commercial banks, mortgage bankers, savings institutions and credit unions, can make available to homebuyers and multifamily investors. This Freddie Mac site offers a step-by-step tutorial on the home buying decision process and the mortgage application process.
 
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF REAL ESTATE

The DRE Web site provides a wealth of information for consumers including how the DRE can be of assistance and/or referrals to other entities who can help if the DRE cannot. Consumers can learn about the home buying process, reverse mortgages, how to protect themselves from predatory lending, using the services of a mortgage broker, trust deed investments, mobilehome park purchases and various other real estate topics.
